A Dog Sits Waiting
A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun, Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run. He's been here for days now with nothing to do But sit by the road, waiting for you. He can't understand why you left him that day. He thought you and he were just stopping to play. He's sure you'll come back, and that's why he stays. How long will he suffer? How many more days? His legs have grown weak, his throat's parched and dry. He's sick now from hunger and falls with a sigh. He puts down his head and closes his eyes. I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies.

I found the poem above in our home town newspaper. I clipped it out and put it on my refrigerator. I have carried this around with me for over 20 years. I pray for all the little puppies and grown dogs alike that get left out or "put out" on the sides of all our roads and highways.
On that note maybe all the left behind pooches can get even.
There is an Indian legend which says when a human dies there is a bridge they must cross to enter into heaven. At the head of that bridge waits every animal that human encountered during their lifetime. The animals, based upon what they know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge.... and which are turned away...

She died 2 days after having her spade.
Bear the baby sitter. This is Ashley with Bear. He would watch over her all the time. When Ashley started walking she would climb on his back and bounce and Bear loved it. He was Daddy Doggie. Bear was 3 years old and had a heart attack.
Baby our Great Dane. She lived a great long life with us. We had to have her put down. She was 9 years old.
This little guy had a short life. He made it to almost 2 years old. One of my other horses kicked him in the head while playing. He was a grandson of the great AQHA King P234.

This is Kim. She started my love affair with the Boxer Breed. All the kids in the neighborhood would let her out of the backyard while I was at work. I would come home and the kids would have her in a wagon pulling her up the street. I smile when I think back on those kids and that one special dog. That was way back when in 1983.
This big guy is Ruger. What a pistol he was. This picture was taken at Clarks Hill Lake. He loved to swim. He lived to be 5 years young when he died of kidney failure.
This is Bruno the Blue and Gold Macaw. I got this baby before he had any feathers. He loved to yell SHUT UP to the dogs when they all started barking. He would then laugh when they would shut up. He did not make it through this winter with a bad lung infection.
"peanut! gimme kissss, I love you, pretty boy, pretty baby, Chigger, Butt Butt, Lalalalalala He loved to listen to crocodile rock" helloo! " That's just a few of the things he would say.

Flo 2/20/03--5/12/06
Oh how I loved this girl. You will be greatly missed.
Flo was bred to have her second litter of puppies. She had complications from this breeding and we lost a great friend and family member. Life on the farm will never be the same.
